Hansel and Gretel. The last children of the III Reich

Inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, this story reimagines its iconic elements in the context of Germany from 1942 to 1945, during the final, chaotic years of World War II.

As Soviet troops close in on Berlin and Hitler hides in the Fuhrerbunker, the remnants of the German army make a desperate last stand. Amid this collapse, the narrative focuses on the madness engulfing society and the transformation of familiar places like Potsdam, Tempelhof, and Halbe into scenes of devastation.

At the heart of this comic are two siblings, Hansel and Gretel, whose experiences reflect the loss of innocence in wartime. Hansel is imaginative and naive, while his older sister, Gretel, is more grounded and protective. Together, they navigate the horrors of war, manipulated by SS fanatics or merely struggling to survive. Their journey serves as a poignant metaphor for how war deforms childhood, portraying a fictional but deeply plausible tale set in the winds of the Third Reich’s final days.
